Your Wellbeing and Health - More Than Just A State of Mind

Health and wellbeing always depends on  our surroundings. Amelia was lucky enough to grow up in Malvern. In 1959 The Malvern Hills Area was designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The designation covers 105 square kilometres and includes parts of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.. It was in Malvern that Amelia learnt to observe nature, to appreciate the flowers, birds, rivers, the sky, trees, and even the animals, while walking among the Malvern Hills.

Walking into Alchemy: The Transformation Power of Nature - Amelia Mariette

According to Amelia Marriette one can find inner peace and cure their mind through walking. Walking into Alchemy: The Transformation Power of Nature is Amelia's first work of nonfiction. Her book describes her personal journey as she improved her mental health through walking in nature. Walking into Alchemy has become a handbook for walking and is being read all over the world from Brazil to New Zealand.

Client Review :

"Amelia Marriette's book Walking into Alchemy is one to savour and delay finishing too soon. Each walk is an outward and inward journey of emotional and physical transformation that can't help but transform the reader as well. Amelia's use of history, botany, the weather and thought is delivered in a style that makes word's the paint on the end of a painter's brush, forming images of a land and people through the focal of her soul. Both a travel book as well as a work of philosophy, her book needs to be read by all of us who delight in walks of nature as well as the mind. I highly recommend her book for any on life's journey."

Paul Evers, Author and Arborist.5 * Goodreads Review, 6th December 2021,

Amelia has compiled a list of 10 things to make walking more enjoyable.

  • Walk with intention – look closely at the trees – the bark patterns, moss or lichen.
  • Feel things like moss, leaves, snow and ice.
  • Eat some clean snow – it’s delicious!
  • Take close up photographs of lichen, or ice crystal sand look at them when you get home in extreme close up on your laptop or computer.
  • Stop, breathe and look into the far distance, or behind you to survey the view, and just pause for two or three minutes.
  • Collect a bark fragment or dry seed head and draw it when you get home.
  • Because the trees are naked in winter, bird watching is easier you may just spot a Long-tailed tit or a Firecrest. In Spring and early Summer, listen to the birds, if you can recognise one by its song, it will be a small victory.
  • Walk alone sometimes, and let your mind be free.
  • Take a flask with you and take a short break, it will taste so much better outdoors, and you will be able to spend a few precious moments gathering your thoughts.
  • Write about the walk; whilst you are walking scribble down some notes. Then as soon as you get home, write about what you saw and how you felt.
